What is MG?

Myasthenia Gravis is a disease of the neuromuscular junction.

What is the neuromuscular junction?

Nerves tell our skeletal muscles what to do. The tip of the nerve comes right up to, but doesn't touch, the surface of the muscle.

Normal Function

The nerve uses chemical signals to talk to the muscle. The main chemical involved in MG is acetylcholine.

What happens in MG?

In MG, the nerve and muscle are not communicating well. There are a few different ways this can happen.
